The Minister for Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Foreign Mauritanians, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala, Carlos Ramiro MartÃnez Alvarado, signed an agreement on Thursday in New York establishing diplomatic relations between Mauritania and Guatemala.
The agreement was signed on the margins of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr Mokhtar Mbaba, Ambassador, Director of the United Nations and International Non-Governmental Organisations in the Directorate-General for Multilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr El Haj Lehbib, First Counsellor to the Permanent Mission of Mauritania to the United Nations.
